**autism** is a neurological and cognitive condition. it affects how a person perceives the world,
processes information, and interacts with others. it is not a disease and not a deficit.
it's a difference. autistic people are **neurologically divergent** from the typical majority,
hence the term [neurodivergent](/neurodiversity).
the standard name in medicine is **autism spectrum disorder** (asd),
but many reject the "disorder" label because it frames autism as a problem to be fixed. it isn’t.
autism is not caused by vaccines. it is not a result of parenting.
it is not an internet trend. it's a structural, genetic part of a person’s brain.
it cannot be "cured" and shouldn't be.
## how it works
autism shows up in lots of ways, but some of the most common traits are:
* **sensory sensitivity** (to light, sound, texture, etc)
* **difficulty with social norms** (especially unspoken ones)
* **strong focus and deep interests** (also called "special interests")
* **need for routine and predictability**
* **literal thinking** and low tolerance for vague or fake behavior
* **honesty**, intensity, and attention to detail
* **difficulty with small talk, group dynamics, and surface-level stuff**
some autistic people don't speak. some speak a lot. some stim (repetitive movements or sounds),
some don't. some can pass for "normal" (this is called **masking**),
but it usually causes burnout and stress.
autism is a spectrum not because it goes from "mild" to "severe",
but because every autistic person is different. there’s no single model.
## culture and politics
autism gets misunderstood constantly. schools, jobs, governments,
and media tend to either **infantilize** autistic people or treat them as broken machines.
this creates isolation, abuse, and stigma. the **autism industrial complex**
(aba therapy, cure narratives, fake charities like autism speaks) exists to force autistic people to look and act "normal",
no matter how much it hurts them. most of these organizations are run **by non-autistics** and do real harm.
autism isn't a tragedy. the real tragedy is how society treats autistic people.
the [neurodiversity](/neurodiversity) movement pushes back against all that.
it says autistic people don’t need to be fixed, they need to be **understood**, **respected**, and **accommodated**.
autistic people have always existed and have always contributed to art, science, math, philosophy, and culture.
most of that was never credited.
## autism and computing
many autistic people are drawn to programming, electronics, engineering,
and other logic-heavy or detail-oriented fields. there's a natural fit between autistic thinking and computing.
autistic devs often build [free software](/free_software), maintain systems,
and obsess over clean design or efficiency. they make things that work because
they *want them to work*, not because it's trendy or profitable.

**based** is a word that has, over the last two decades, undergone a semantic mutation so extreme it would make even orwellian newspeak engineers blush. originally used as an insult to mock people addicted to base substances (e.g. "freebasing" crack cocaine), the word was reclaimed, recontextualized and eventually turned into the highest form of internet praise. in modern internet parlance, being *based* roughly means being **unfiltered, honest, grounded in reality, ideologically self-consistent**, and most importantly, **not caring if what you say makes normies cry**. sometimes even being wrong doesn't disqualify you from being based, it's the manner in which you're wrong that matters.
the word was arguably reintroduced into circulation by rapper **lil b ("the based god")**, who used it to signify being true to oneself regardless of what others think. in his mouth it was a vaguely positive aura word, similar to "enlightened" but with swag. later, 4chan weaponized it.
## characteristics of basedness
to be based is to exist outside of mass-manufactured thought paradigms, to think something not because cnn, wikipedia or your university said so, but because your own internal pattern recognition or experience told you it makes sense. this includes unpopular, politically incorrect or offensive views, but not necessarily: someone advocating for rural self-sufficiency and open source software over google docs is based; so is someone defending the right to offend. based doesn't mean edgy for its own sake, it means principled disregard for fashionable delusions.
**being based typically implies:**
* saying what you think even if it offends the mob.
* not caring about clout, status, or institutional approval.
* being immune to mainstream ideological manipulation.
* not pretending to like garbage pop culture to fit in.
* choosing truth over social comfort or fake kindness.
the opposite of based is **cringe**, or more precisely, **bluepilled cringe**, mindless conformity, virtue signaling, regurgitating consensus opinions to avoid controversy, apologizing for existing, drinking soylent, thinking nft monkeys were "an investment", being scared to laugh at a joke because someone on twitter might cancel you.
being based doesn't automatically mean you're correct, **you can be based and wrong**, but you're wrong in a dignified, independent way. you might be wrong today, right tomorrow, but at least you're *your own person*, not a product of some marketing department's zoom meeting.
## misconceptions
many people misuse *based* as a catch-all for "something i agree with." that's not quite right. you can call something based **even if you personally disagree with it**, but admire the unapologetic delivery or see it as refreshingly honest. for example, someone might say:
> "i don't agree with this guy at all, but he's based for saying it out loud."
this disarms the typical "agree/disagree" binary, basedness exists in a different dimension, not about ideological alignment but about balls.
> **"he said that in 2025? on the internet? without asking for pronouns first? damn. based."**
## examples

note: all of these could also be cringe if said in a try-hard way. basedness has a **vibe**, it can't be faked, marketed, or mass-produced. you either glow with it or you don't. once buzzfeed runs a "10 most based tiktok accounts" article, all the basedness is gone from earth.
## based as memetic armor
calling someone *based* can act as a rhetorical shield. once someone is declared based, attacks on them lose potency. like calling a jester a clown, it's the job. based people are expected to be problematic. this frustrates online outrage mobs, who rely on shaming and deplatforming as weapons.
being *based* is the meme-world's equivalent of achieving **zen detachment from social punishment**. you no longer fear being banned, disliked, or misunderstood. you have escaped the matrix and laugh at its npcs.
## note on overuse
unfortunately, as with all good things, based is being slowly co-opted. tiktokers, corpos, and pr departments trying to appeal to "the youths" have started misusing it in attempts to sound edgy or ironic. be careful: once based is printed on a starbucks mug, it's over. we may have to fork the language again. based will split, and the real ones will follow the hard fork into a new word. (suggestions: redpilled, grounded, sigma, dematrixed, unplugged, etc.)

**c#** was a general purpose [programming language](/programming_language), with emphasis on "**was**".

c# is even worse than [c++](/cpp) since it's not even related to the almighty

## how c# evolved
c# was born out of microsoft's desire to dominate the programming world, much like their attempt to control the browser market with internet explorer.
it was initially released in 2000, riding on the coattails of the .net framework. claiming it would be the next big thing in programming. spoiler alert: it wasn't.
## why is it shit
1. garbage collection.
2. verbose as fuck.
3. oop.
4. flabbergasting amount of abstraction.
5. managed code. (point 4)
6. slow performance.
7. excessive use of classes.
8. limited control over memory.
9. cumbersome error handling.
10. dependency on .net framework.
## c# as a cultural marker
using c# isn't just a choice of programming language; it's a cultural statement.
it says, "i am a microsoft loyalist, and i don't mind sacrificing performance for the sake of ease of use."
it's like driving a ford focus when you could be driving a ferrari. sure, the focus is reliable,
but it's not going to win you any races.
the modern c# developer is not always a beginner, not always a microsoft fanboy, and not always a corporate drone.
it's someone who [lets themselves be constrained](/cuck) by the limitations of the language, and then says thank you.

**cuck** is one of those fucking words that started as a niche insult and metastasized into a cultural litmus test.
short for "cuckold," it originally described a man whose wife cheats on him, often with the added humiliation
that he knows and does nothing. it has existed in literature and folklore for centuries, always dripping with
shame, emasculation, and social ridicule. but like many old insults, the internet gave it new life.
in modern usage, especially online, *cuck* has expanded far beyond its literal meaning.
it's a shorthand for **weakness, submission, ideological spinelessness, and performative moral surrender**.
it often carries political weight, used to mock people (usually men) who bend over backwards to appear virtuous,
agreeable, or "respectable" in the eyes of power, even if it costs them dignity, truth, or loyalty to their own side.
## how "cuck" evolved
the modern *cuck* insult was popularized by message boards like 4chan and /pol/,
and rapidly spread to wider political discourse during the 2016 us election cycle.
conservatives used it to mock moderates (e.g. "cuckservatives") who seemed more
interested in appeasing liberals than defending their own base.
but the insult didn't stay locked in right-wing circles, leftists, anarchists, and anyone with internet literacy started using it too.
today, *cuck* is less about politics and more about **vibes**: someone who apologizes for existing,
who performs obedience to broken systems, who throws their principles under the bus to avoid conflict,
who fears offending the algorithm. if being *based* is about bold independence, being a *cuck* is about neutered submission.
## characteristics of cuckness
* apologizing for things you didn't do.
* adopting fashionable opinions just to stay in the good graces of institutions or mobs.
* letting your enemies write your rules.
* virtue signaling with zero substance behind it.
* being more offended by tone than by lies.
* being scared to disagree with your "allies".
it's not just about being wrong, it’s about being wrong **in a way that flatters power**.
about turning yourself into a doormat for approval from people who still hate you.

calling someone a *cuck* isn't just an insult, it's a diagnosis.

not because they’re evil, but because they’re scared.
the modern *cuck* is not always male, not always political, and not always sexual.
it's someone who **lets themselves be used**, and then says thank you.
## the limits of cuck
as with all powerful slurs, *cuck* has been overused and misused. not everyone who disagrees with you is a cuck.
some people are just polite. some are thoughtful. not everyone who compromises is weak. context matters.
the insult only lands if it's used precisely.
screaming *cuck* at every normie dilutes its power. use it like a scalpel, not a grenade.
## is pacifism cucked?
this is a hard question, but i'd say **no**, as pacifism does not seek
to avoid conflict but completely vanish them before they even exist.

**gunz: the duel** is a third-person online multiplayer shooter originally developed by the
korean studio [maiet entertainment](/maiet-entertainment) and first released in 2003 as a closed beta.
it became well-known in the mid-2000s for its acrobatic movement system (heavily inspired by Matrix), anime aesthetics,
and broken-but-beautiful mechanics like k-style (korean style).
unlike traditional shooters, gunz let players wall-run, flip, dash, block bullets with swords,
and cancel animations to chain attacks at superhuman speed.
the result was a glitchy yet fluid combat system that felt more like a fighting game than a shooter.
## core mechanics
- third-person shooting with swords, pistols, shotguns, rockets
- fast-paced movement with wall runs, dashes, flips
- **k-style**: abuse of animation canceling and dash mechanics to move and fight faster
- custom characters with leveling, cosmetics, and equipment
- lobbies and p2p rooms instead of matchmaking
- community-run private servers with custom content
## development and decline
maiet released the original version in korea and partnered with ijji (in the us),
ph, br, and other regional publishers.
despite its popularity, gunz never got a proper sequel or modernization.
a spiritual sequel, **gunz 2**, was released in 2013, but it removed all of the gunz essence and eventually
(more like instantly) died.
eventually, maiet went bankrupt in 2013.
the intellectual property rights became murky, with the failed gunz 2 and server shutdowns,
fans were left to maintain the game via private servers.
## ip drama
in the 2020s, korean mobile game publisher [masangsoft](/masangsoft) began claiming ownership over gunz, sending dmca takedowns to private server operators and asserting vague rights over the brand. their claims are **highly questionable**, as they never developed the game and appear to have acquired old maiet assets without any formal transfer of rights.
meanwhile, [gosu games](/gosu-games), a community-driven team, is working on gunz.gg. TODO.
## why it should be considered a based game
- movement system was discovered, not designed, raw, emergent gameplay
- janky af, yet high skill ceiling
- completely unique feel, no other game ever matched it
- community has kept it alive for 20+ years through pure obsession
- proof that good games don't need balance or polish, just soul
despite all these reasons that prove that gunz is pretty based, game relies
in Microsoft APIs and it can only be played in [Windows](/windows), which
is a big big mistake.
## source code
gunz source code can be found in GitHub in many phases, gunz code has been leaked so many times
it's hard to tell which one is the original one.
gunz is made in [C++](/cpp) and the code itself is a fucking unreadable trash with comments in korean.
the game is poorly optimized, despite being 20 years old, it will run laggy on modern and old hardware, as result of
the fucking shit it has as code.
## legacy
gunz remains a cult classic, especially in southeast asia and south america
its influence can be seen in mods, movement shooters, and indie games, but nothing has replicated the original chaos.
many still play it on private servers like FGunZ or some [malware](/malware) servers like FXP GunZ and iGunZ.

**holy c** is the programming language created by [Terry A. Davis](/terry_andrew_davis).
it is a dialect of [C](/c_(programming_language)), designed for simplicity, speed,
and direct hardware access, made specifically for use in [templeOS](/templeos).
holy c is a mix of standard c and custom language features made by terry, such as support for inline assembly,
automatic macros, co-routines, custom syntax for god-inspired input/output, and built-in documentation commands.
it runs in a 16:16-bit real mode environment on x86-64 and compiles incredibly fast due to its integrated compiler.
holy c is not ansi c, nor gnu c. it doesn't try to be compatible. it tries to be holy.

holy c is a pure manifestation of [personal computing](/personal_computing), unfiltered, unmanaged, unapologetic. it was written not for companies, not for academia, but for god and for the joy of creation.
in an era of bloated languages, garbage collectors, cloud builds, telemetry, and overengineered type systems, holy c stands alone: small, insane, and beautiful.

when something is proprietary, it is **not yours**,

and it's written by lawyers for the sole purpose of taking your rights away.
examples of proprietary software include:

* most apps on your phone
the more you depend on proprietary software, the more vulnerable you are.
you can't fix bugs, you can't stop tracking, you can't control updates,

## proprietary culture
beyond software, we have [proprietary culture](/free_culture): music, movies, books, games, data, anything that you're not allowed to copy, remix, or distribute. this kind of culture is locked down by copyright and drm. it's not about protecting artists, it's about protecting publishers and platforms. the culture becomes passive consumption instead of active creation. and even if proprietary art isn't immediately harmful like proprietary software, it builds a society where people don't understand how anything works, don't question ownership, and think "piracy" is a moral crime.

* all netflix/hulu/etc media
* all aaa games and their assets
* anything from disney

## is it ever okay to use proprietary stuff?

the safest rule is to **avoid it completely**.
treat proprietary software like **toxic waste**, not because it always explodes,
but because it poisons everything slowly. if you're new to the free world,
you won't spot the danger until it's too late. better to stay away.
use only [free software](/free_software). consume only [free cultural works](/free_culture).
there are edge cases, of course. sometimes you have to run proprietary code to understand it and write a free replacement,
this is called [reverse engineering](/reverse_engineering). but that's like handling a virus in a lab.
it should only be done by people who know what they're doing and know how to contain the infection.
